As the youngest child and the only daughter, I was a tag-along to my dad, following him all over our 30 acres and beyond. He was a self-taught naturalist, avid birder, woodsman, nature photographer and creator of a 5 acre pioneer prairie. I spent a lot of hours with him hiking, cutting wood, birding and watching him photograph wildflowers. It all became ingrained as a normal part of life.

Not surprising, I married a natural born explorer of wilderness 43 years ago and have shared with him and our children many a mountain peak and campfire since. The love of nature has not dimmed in 60+ years and I still explore the outdoors on a daily basis.
I live in the northern mid-west surrounded by an oak/maple/beech forest, 15 miles from the nearest town. Our house sits on a ridge above a major river and is only accessed by four wheel drive in the winter. If it snows significantly here, I’m snowed in till it melts. In the other 3 seasons we explore outside our state when we can and especially enjoy high-elevation off-grid camping.
This blog is the culmination of all that I love to spend time on: writing, nature photography, hiking, learning, and spending time alone with God in a place dear to His heart and mine. I’m glad you’re here and would love for you to join me as I treat each day as the next adventure.
